The purpose of this project was to complete the face reconstruction from a skull of Bush Race brought to the Great Britain by The Challenger Oceanographic Expedition 1872 - 1876.

The Anatomical Museum at the University of Edinburgh provided a Bushman skull in order to construct a realistic face for exhibition display.

The traditional manual method of sculpting was chosen, using Chavant SNP clay as the main material.  The Manchester Method (Combine method) was chosen as the most appropriate method for the facial reconstruction. The clay sculpture of the facial reconstruction was moulded and cast to achieve the most realistic facial appearance.
